Christmas dinner

On December 20th, 2008, our class 10-A went to have dinner with grade 12 students. We met at the gate of Tacos in Zhujiang Road at 6:00 p.m. Most of our classmates could not wait to have this wonderful dinner.
At 6.30 p.m., almost all the students in our group were in Tacos. The restaurant had a good environment and fresh air. I sat with Vera and Elva. Vera sat in front of me and Elva sat beside me. Then the waitress gave us the menu politely. Also, I was given a bottle of water. I have eaten some snack so I just ordered a small piece of the beefsteak for dinner. I heard that they had ordered the diffident kinds of food, such as pizzas, and some other kinds of Western food. When we were waiting the beefsteak, we talked with each other and had a lot of fun. Maybe the restaurant was very busy that day, we waited our food for a long time. However,nobody cared about it, everyone is so exited because we never have dinner with all the classmates before that everyone was busy at talking. The waitress was so polite that she said sorry to all of us.
The students from grade 12 were very happy to have dinner with us. They talked with us a lot. I think the beefsteak is very delicious and I like it very much. It's more authentic than other veefsteak. I think I will suggest others to try it .
After the dinner, I went to the KTV to sing for 2 hours with all the classmates. Everyone had a good time with each other. At the end of the day, we said goodbye to each other and we all decided to have dinner together next time. I am very hope that day come soon.

Sleeping baby

In 1998, the artist Wu Weishan made an artwork that was named "Sleeping baby". The artwork describes a baby who was sleeping. His head is an oval, and he looks a bit fat and very cute. The lines are very smooth, makes the people that who look at the artwork feel the babyls face was so soft and want to pinch him. The artwork was bronze and dark green, so that it looks very stereoscopic.

Wu Weishan said that he made the artwork when he was The artwork shows the human's earlist performance. it's very plain and childish. His mouth was open, it's a very natural behaviour, and it's so lifelike. I can feel the most primal human spirit and the happy childwood.

The "Sleeping baby" shows a cute baby to us . I feel I wanted to pinch his face very mach, because his face looks so soft and fat. I think the baby must be a child who attracts everyone's attention easily. When i saw the artwork, it reminded me of my childwood,Iused to be a baby like him. I used to be a kid who could fell asleep fastly.

I think Wu Weishan made the artwork to remind everyone of their childwood and tell them to be more innocent and simple. Now, many people are too selfish and pay more attention to money and social position, they need to be care more about warmness.

I like the artwork "Sleeping baby" very much, because the baby is so cute and innocent that no one will dislike him. I think naivete is the most wonderful thing in the world, it can make your life more easier, and because of it, you must be more happy. Everyone used to be a baby and everyone used to be very simple.

The baby in the artwork opens his mouth and sleeps heavily, how natural his behavior is! I think everyone will like this artwork, because although some people are not simple at all, they still love naivete in there heart and know that it is the most wonderful thing in the world.

GUEST ARTIST

On December 1st, we listened to a lecture about Suzhou classical gardens by a professor who named Zhao Bin. I love the beautiful gardens very much. He gave us a thorough appreciation about Suzhou classical gardens.
He talked about three points:

• What is "garden"?
  First, he talked about the meaning of the Chinese word "garden"("园"). Every part of the word represents somethings in the garden. Then, he talked about thoughts of gardens of people in different countries and different gardens in different countries. He also said that there are four main kinds of gardens in China : Imperial gardens; Private gardens; Temple gardens; Scenic gardens.


• The overview of Suzhou classical garden.
Zhao Bin said that the Suzhou classical gardens also known as forests in cities; the live history and culture; the landscape painting that can be entered; the wonderful art that nourished by local.

• The artistic characteristics of Suzhou classical garden.

There are four artistic characteristics . The first is separated from the water and cut hill.The second is, although the rockery was made by humans, look like natural. He said that to appreciate the rockery of taihu lake , you should pay attention to four points :thin ,leakage,transparent,wrinkle. The third is to pile rockery. Stones are stacked and become a whole thing. There are two artists famous at this area ,they are Zhang Nanhuan and Ge Yuliang. The fourth is to order water.

I learned a lot today, it's so amazing that there are so many knowledge in classical gardens. Before I just think that gardens are beautiful , but have no connotation, now, I know that there are many Chinese culture in it. Next summer, I will go to Suzhou classical gardens to see the true view and learn more about it . Chinese people are so great! Maybe I will focus on it in the future,I want to have such a wonderful garden in my dream house.I want to let everyone in the world know about the great gardens and the great Chinese culture .
